A great opportunity to play a key role in a major technology transformation.
Our client is going through a significant period of technology transformation, with a number of exciting projects underway to modernise and improve their systems, applications and ways of working.
As part of this transformation, they are looking for a Senior Software Tester to take ownership of the testing approach across a varied technology landscape.
This is a role with genuine responsibility. You’ll be responsible for shaping test strategies and plans, coordinating testing activity and driving execution, while also working closely with development and technology teams to make sure quality is built into the delivery process.
You’ll oversee and coordinate the work of two testing-focused areas:
- Automation / Developer in Test – focused on automated testing across .NET and Azure environments
- Traditional QA Testing – covering functional, integration, regression and other core testing activities
You’ll provide direction and structure across both areas, ensuring testing is well planned, appropriately prioritised and delivered effectively throughout the software development lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and own test strategies, test plans and overall testing approaches across transformation projects.
- Coordinate and drive testing activity from planning through to execution and sign-off.
- Work closely with developers, delivery teams, business stakeholders and other technology teams to embed quality throughout the SDLC.
- Oversee both automated and manual testing activities, ensuring appropriate coverage across applications and releases.
- Provide guidance and direction to colleagues working across automation and traditional QA.
- Identify testing risks, dependencies and potential quality issues early and ensure they are appropriately managed.
- Review test results, defects and quality metrics and provide clear reporting to stakeholders.
- Support the development and improvement of automated testing approaches across .NET and Azure.
- Help establish consistent testing standards, processes and best practice across the wider technology function.
- Ensure testing is aligned with project objectives, business requirements and release timelines.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who has strong hands-on software testing experience but is also comfortable taking ownership of the wider testing approach.
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience working as a Software Tester / QA Engineer / Senior Tester.
- Experience creating test strategies, test plans and test approaches.
- A good understanding of the full software testing lifecycle.
- Experience across both manual and automated testing.
- Experience working alongside developers and technology teams within an Agile environment.
- An understanding of .NET and Azure environments.
- Experience working with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of functional, integration, regression and system testing.
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to coordinate testing activity across multiple workstreams.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to identify issues and drive them through to resolution.
